The Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club (KWRC) was established in July 2011 as a satellite of the Rotary Club of Cataraqui-Kingston, to address the challenges faced in recruiting and retaining new younger members within the organization. Chartered as an independent Club on April 17, 2015, Kingston Waterfront maintains the core principles of Rotary International while engaging a new socially-minded generation of diverse members who may be limited in resources, but not in spirit. With a mind to improving accessibility, the goal continues to be to examine and eliminate some of the hurdles associated with joining traditional clubs.
The Kingston Waterfront Rotary Club maintains the high standards embodied by Rotary while providing a more flexible format of involvement. We recognize the stringent scheduling demands of today’s young professionals and families and therefore seek to maximize impact with minimum time. Instead of a primary emphasis on fundraising and granting activities, Kingston Waterfront members contribute their unique perspectives, skill sets, and ‘sweat equity’ to tackle issues both locally and internationally. The result is an enthusiastic arm of Rotary, offering its membership and our community at large an exciting opportunity for rewarding fellowship, meaningful experiences, and a lasting legacy.
